October Happenings

October has been one eventful month! Besides working on some post-productions (view the background story here or view a behind the scenes post here), I’ve been pretty preoccupied with a couple things:

First of all, I got to work on two great weddings for two amazing couples (Sergio & Rosa, and Brian & Kaman)! I also got to work with a lovely couple, Philip & Ruby, for some engagement portraits, which I will be sharing soon! Among these things I have been able to work with other “love stories” and talk to more couples about weddings next year! It’s been a great month of love! :)

If I haven’t mentioned it before, I have a huge heart for doodling as well! And I bring use this hobby in my personal faith as well! This month I also had a great opportunity to help out with a good friend’s church’s fundraiser for an organization called HelpLive Thailand by donating a couple of the doodles I have done for them to sell and produce! I call my doodle book, “Oodles of Doodles Inspired by the Word of God”. It’s like another journal for me, since it’s where I doodle things that I feel God has placed on my heart from either from time I spend reading my Bible or from worship  songs, or messages that I listen to. It’s a way that I like to express  and share the things that God teaches me, personally. I was so thankful to be able to contribute to this event, and I was so blessed to see that people actually bought the prints that they made of them! Here’s a picture I was sent of the display they had of my doodles! (It was taken on my friend’s iPhone)!

Shortly after this time, I ran out of pages in my doodle book! But thankfully after a belt testing I did (YUP! I have taken upon learning some Taekwondo!), I ended up having two halves of a board that I broke–WITH MY VERY OWN FIST! What did this mean? Well after looking at the boards and debating on throwing them away or doing something with them, I decided to redeem the boards as something to doodle on in place of my journal, which still needs to be replaced! So I just grabbed an ink pen and did my best to doodle on them!

These are two quotes (one is a Bible verse, 1 John 4:19, and the other is form an old hymn that I love called “Come Thy Fount of Every Blessing”) that I hold dear to my heart because it reminds me of two things: 1. the amazing and undeserved grace that I base my faith upon, and 2. a reminder of why I strive to love truly and share love with those around me (because of the great sacrificial love I’ve been given myself). These photos are also taken from my iPhone!

This month I was also busy working and finishing up some details on collaboration things with John and Chris, which included a couple of days of filming and scouting! It also allowed me to catch up with one of my awesome best friends, and also college roommate, Hannah!

This all of course happened alongside many other personal things going on at home, editing, and doing a lot of the business side of photography–like figuring out how to do my taxes on my own this year for both myself and my business–and doing some house keeping business work! Needless to say, it’s been pretty crazy!

Sadly, October didn’t end without a temporary injury, however! :( Nothing too serious at the moment, so once I heal in about a week I will hopefully be out and about once again! But in the mean time, I’m currently resting and doing work from my bed, where I’m also praying for a speedy recovery! Already, the pain has gone down, so I’m hopeful for things to be healed soon! Three things that I am grateful for, despite the pain that I had to endure:

  1. I got to watch the sun rise as I was on my way (eventually) to the hospital, which I haven’t done in a while… but I actually do enjoy doing (if I get some sleep). I’ll post another iPhone photo from that car ride below!
  2. I realized again how blessed I am to have friends and family who do their best to help me in my times of need–so thankful for their love!
  3. I am now forced to get some needed rest, which is a blessing in disguise, I suppose! :)

am still in the healing process, but rest assured, dear readers! The week after next I should be up shooting once again! November is yet another busy month! :)

(Pst, just a little FYI, I’m posting the engagement shoot this Friday! so keep a look out!)

Well that’s a little glimpse of my October happenings! I hope you all have been having a good month as well! :)

Happy Tuesday!
